Your Fate ….

All the hype… Whatever.  You won’t care less.  You have greater concerns.  But then the day will come, and coincidence will deliver you to a mountain pass near Driggs, Idaho.  Many others have traveled to be there – photographers, families, parties, travelers, crypto-mystics of all stripe.  You will not have anticipated that the nighttime insects would arrive as the midday turns to dusk and the heat relents.  Bats will feed at lunch.  An airplane chases the shadow.  The sunlight leaves hundreds of slight crescent shadows.  Your child will say, “Path of Totality.”  The light changes in a completely unfamiliar way.  You’ll put on sun glasses and look up to the bright ring.  The cool air will fill your lungs, and you will be strangely elated.  Afterward, you will drive back to town in silence.  Your phone will ring, and you will be informed of your father’s death.
